How can I automatically set a service based on the Ship To address?

Automation rules can be used to set different shipping options based on whether the shipment will be domestic or international, or whether the shipments are going to specific countries, cities, or post codes.

Below are some examples of automation rules which set shipping service based on the ship to information:

International Address Rule Example

This rule will locate any international orders and set the shipping service / package type to DHL Express Worldwide / Package.

Set the criteria so Country does not include the Canada. Then, set the action to apply the service and package type you wish to apply to these shipments.

Automation Rules. Example for when to use International Shipping

International orders will always use a different shipping service than their domestic counterparts. This rule would help switch the service automatically if the order is going to an international address.

Postal Code Rule Example

This rule will locate any domestic orders with a matching postal code and set the shipping service / package type to Canada Post Regular Parcel / Package.

Set the criteria so Country includes the Canada and the Postal Code Starts with the first letters of the postal code. Then, set the action to apply the service and package type you wish to apply to these shipments.

Automation Rules. Example for when to use Domestic Shipping

You may use a different shipping service to handle orders going to a certain part of the country, such as using a lower cost shipping service when packages are going to the same city you're located in. The example rule is looking for orders going to Muskoka, ON.
