No. ShipStation is a SaaS app (Software as a Service). You log into ShipStation using a browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge), so no download is necessary.
To print directly from ShipStation to your label printers, without downloading or using your browser PDF functions, you will need to download ShipStation Connect. This is a small app that acts as a bridge between your ShipStation account and your printer workstation.
ShipStation has direct integrations with over 100 carrier and store platforms, and has a number of additional API partnerships. To find out if ShipStation integrates with yours, please see our Integrations Help guide.
If you do not see your specific platform in the list, you may be able to still integrate by partnering with one of our official solutions providers.
Each ShipStation plan level, with the exception of our Enterprise Plan, is limited to a certain number of shipments per monthly billing cycle:

Shipments include shipments, returns, and fulfillments. Fulfillments include orders sent to FBA or Shipwire, as well as orders that are Marked as Shipped in ShipStation.
You can view each of these in your Shipments tab under their individual sections in the left-hand sidebar.
Your shipment limit will reset when your new billing cycle starts, not based on the calendar month. For example, if you are billed on the 10th of every month, your shipments from the 10th of last month to the 9th of this month count towards your monthly allowance.
To find out your billing cycle, go to
Settings > Account > Subscription. In the Current Subscription section, the date of your next invoice is when your billing cycle starts.
To calculate how many shipments you have made in your billing cycle, go to the Shipments tab. Set a Ship Date filter for the date range of your billing cycle and the number of shipments will display on the bottom left of your Shipments grid.
What counts as a shipment?
Labels (including voided labels), fulfillments, and returns all count towards your shipment limit. Shipments that are Marked as Shipped are considered fulfillments, as well as orders that are sent to a fulfillment service like FBA via ShipStation.
Yes, ShipStation can send tracking information to your customer's if you enable the shipment notification emails in the store's Notification settings.
This option is off by default since most selling channels also send shipment notifications to your customers. ShipStation automatically notifies your selling channel when an order ships. This notification includes the tracking information as well, which your selling channel can pass on to your customer. However, you may want to use ShipStation's notifications instead so you can maintain control of all of your shipment notifications in one place and use ShipStation's notifications templates and customization features.
Currently, all monetary amounts imported into your ShipStation account are treated as the native currency of your account's home country.
For ShipStation accounts based in Canada, all monetary values imported into ShipStation from your selling channels and carriers, or the values displayed on your customs declarations, are treated as CAD amounts.
ShipStation does not do any currency conversion at this time. ShipStation only displays the integers transmitted to ShipStation by the selling channel. If currency conversion is needed, it will need to be done prior to the orders importing into ShipStation.
Using the native currency value is the best way to ensure that any customs fees or taxes are charged at the appropriate rates.
Use Product Defaults to Override Imported Values
If the item amounts imported from your selling channel do not reflect the item cost that should reflect on your packing slips or customs forms, and they cannot be converted prior to importing, use ShipStation's Product Defaults to set the item prices to what they should be in the native currency of your ShipStation account.
The Product Defaults will override the item prices imported from the selling channel, which will allow the customs declarations to reflect the correct item costs and match the item prices printed on the shipment's packing slip.

The weekly digest is an email that contains a weekly summary of orders, shipments, revenue, and shipping costs.
Anyone with Administration user permissions has the ability to opt in or out of the Weekly Digest email.
To Opt-In or Out:
Locate and select (or deselect) the Receive a weekly digest email check box.
Click Update Profile to save your changes.
If you want to turn prevent a user on your account from getting the Weekly Digest, then you will need to edit the permissions on their user name. Ensure that the user does not have Reporting or Administration permission, and they won't get the Weekly Digest emails going forward.

We have recently implemented reCAPTCHA, as a best practice, for all ShipStation users. In most cases, you will rarely encounter the reCAPTCHA.
However, if you are prompted to pass the reCAPTCHA each time you log in (or very frequently), there are a few potential causes for this:
Using ad blockers in your browser
Using certain browser extensions to block your browser from sending information
Enabling the browser "Do Not Track" feature
Using incognito or private browsing mode
Using an unsupported or out-of-date browser
Clearing your browser cache
If you notice the reCAPTCHA appears for you frequently, check if any of the above applies. If so, you may need to disable ad blockers or extensions, quit using incognito mode for ShipStation, or change to a supported/up-to-date browser.
ShipStation is committed to protecting your data and maintaining a secure platform where you can ship efficiently. Because of this, we will no longer be supporting the outdated security protocols TLS 1.0 as of June 30th, 2018.
