The ShipStation 3PL feature allows a 3PL to invite their clients to use ShipStation to send their orders directly to the 3PL's ShipStation account.
Once the ShipStation 3PL add-on is enabled on the 3PL's ShipStation account, clients can then delegate orders to their 3PL from ShipStation, allowing for faster order fulfillment and visibility into the fulfillment status for the clients.
At this time, there is no limit to how many client accounts a 3PL can connect to. Learn more about the ShipStation 3PL functionality and limitations.
-
The 3PL add-on is enabled on the 3PL's ShipStation account. The 3PL then sends an invite to the client account, asking them to agree to send their orders to the 3PL.
-
Once the client accepts the invitation, the client can then delegate orders to the 3PL directly from their ShipStation account.
-
The client can configure carrier sharing to specify the carriers and services to be used by the 3PL.
-
On the 3PL account side, the orders appear in the Awaiting Shipments status for the store the 3PL set up for that client.
-
The 3PL then creates labels for these orders using the normal create-label workflow.
-
Once the label is created, order status information gets passed back to the client’s ShipStation account and the usual customer notifications occur.
Once a 3PL processes an order, it will take a maximum of 1 hour to appear back in the client’s ShipStation account.
Rather than use a separate account for each client, 3PL providers will now be able to manage multiple clients under a single account with a single login—with no need to log in to a client’s ShipStation account.
Orders will now display the client’s name in the Store field and a Client field will also appear on the ShipStation Orders page. The 3PL provider can sort orders based on these fields, view any notes added to the client's order and set up automation rules based on the value in the Store column. Each order can be shipped using the 3PL's carrier accounts.

-
Store: Client information will appear under the existing Store column. This helps to identify where the orders came from.
