Issues with ShipStation Connect

If you are trying to print via ShipStation Connect but running into some issues, there are a few common causes you may want to investigate. This article covers some of the most common issues you might encounter when printing via ShipStation Connect.

First Time Printing

If this is your first time printing a label - or any document - in ShipStation, you'll want to ensure ShipStation Connect has been installed and is running on your printer workstation. Remember, the printer workstation is the computer the printer you want to use is connected to. ShipStation Connect only needs to be installed and running on printer workstations.

Read through our guide on how to Install & Launch ShipStation Connect for step-by-step instructions for both Mac and Windows workstations.

Encountering Issues After Installing ShipStation Connect

If you've previously installed ShipStation Connect but encounter issues when you try to print, there could be a few reasons for that.

  • ShipStation Connect is installed but is not currently running on the printer workstation.

  • You are using an outdated version of ShipStation Connect.

  • ShipStation Connect can no longer communicate with your printer hardware.

ShipStation Connect Installed but Not Running

This is the most common scenario! To see if ShipStation Connect is running on your workstation, check the System Tray (Windows) or the top navigation bar (macOS) and look for the Connect icon.

If you see that ShipStation Connect is not currently open, all you need to do is open ShipStation Connect and log in using the username and password for your ShipStation account. If you have multiple users on your ShipStation account, either log in with the account you are currently using or the account your organization uses as the Connect admin. If your organization uses a specific account for ShipStation Connect login, ensure your account admin has set ShipStation Connect to share printers with the other users on the account.

Outdated Version of ShipStation Connect

If you are using the legacy version of Connect, you should upgrade to the most recent version. Review our Upgrade to the New ShipStation Connect article for instructions.

Connect and Hardware Communication Issues

If neither of the above options resolve your issue, there could be other communication-related problems. Please review the following articles for steps to resolve some specific errors and issues. And, if the issues persist or is not covered in these topics, please contact our support team for further assistance.
